Digital Records Overview
Ashcraft Orthodontics Jacksonville is pleased to employ an assortment of advanced equipment to help make each patient's experience at our office more comfortable. In an effort to move away from the uncomfortable molds used for physical impressions, we use digital impressions to gather a detailed scan of the upper and lower teeth. Using the iTero 3D intraoral scanner, this technology places a lightweight wand over the teeth to take a digital image. This allows experienced orthodontist Dr. Michael Ashcraft to evaluate the scans and determine if an orthodontic issue exists. From there, we will be able to create a customized treatment plan that addresses your needs and improves the health and beauty of your smile. To schedule an examination at our Jacksonville, AR practice with digital impressions, or to learn more about our register of innovative technology, contact our office today.
Digital Records Reviews
"Dr. Ashcraft and his staff made a huge difference in my life by providing me a confident smile. The office takes payment plans to work with your budget and his staff is second to none. They are always available for emergencies, questions and if you have any dental aversions they make it painless. My only complaint is I can't have them as a dentist. My orthodontic treatment is coming to and end and I'm going to miss this amazing office!"- A.D. / Google / Apr 20, 2020
Best Candidates for Digital Records
Digital impressions using the iTero 3D intraoral scanner is ideal for all patients who require an impression of their mouth and teeth for an orthodontic appliance or evaluation. This method is substantially more comfortable than traditional physical impressions that use alginate or putty, which can be messy and cause a sensitive gag reflex to react. Digital impressions are suitable for children and adults alike.
What to Expect with Digital Records
Whether you're getting a digital impression for an orthodontic appliance (such as a retainer, palatal expander, or space maintainer) or as a part of your overall ortho evaluation, the process is the same. One of our technicians will place the intraoral scanning wand over your upper and lower teeth to capture a detailed image that will provide our team with a comprehensive assessment of your orthodontic health. This device is a significantly more comfortable alternative to physical impressions, which can be messy and take a long time. However, with the iTero scanning technology, a 3D of your mouth and teeth can be instantly transferred to our computer monitor. Our orthodontic team is proud to offer this state-of-the-art technology to make your experience at our Jacksonville, AR practice more enjoyable.
Digital Records Follow-Up
If you are receiving a digital impression as a part of your orthodontic evaluation, you may receive intervention for an issue if one is present. The results from your oral scan will be used to craft any devices or appliances needed for your treatment, which you will pick up at our office after a few weeks. Because digital impressions with iTero don't require the use of any materials besides the intraoral scanning wand, there will be no aftertaste or side effects associated with this diagnostic treatment.
Digital Records Insurance Coverage
A portion of your digital scan may be covered under your insurance policy. To determine your benefits, our team will contact your provider and assess your dental plan. If there are any out-of-pocket costs, you will be made aware of these. If you do not have insurance, or if insurance does not cover the full costs of your appointment, we offer our own in-house payment plans and accept third-party financing through CareCredit to help make your care affordable.
